Jon and Kathleen

August 8, 2008

An Intimate St. Michaels Affair

Jon and Kathleen came home to Maryland from California to tie the knot among their family members and closest friends at the Inn at Perry Cabin. The day was unreal; cool and breezy and brimming with love and emotion. Jon and Kathleen were walking on air!

Sexy little bride shoes!

I had Kathleen wait for Jon under the weeping willow tree outside her suite. It was so romantic as the leaves blew in the breeze, and exciting for me to try some creative portraits. I think it was torture for Kathleen, though, as she waited for Jon to come find her!

Love to Lola, Kathleen's grandmother.

Lighting the unity candle before the blessing at dinner; great idea!

Serenading Mom during her special dance.

Jahnna and Josh

A Baltimore 4th of July bash

001_harvey_groft.jpg
The couple looked so cute with their dog, Zoe, who was trying to beat the heat all day!

002_harvey_groft.jpg
I took a stab at the ring shot, a little technique I was reminded of at a recent gathering of wedding photographers.

Zoe decided it was potty time during the processional!

Cake by Charm City Cakes. It must have been good - by the time Monica and I even thought about trying some, it was gone!

005_harvey_groft.jpg
Zoe wanted to dance, too!

These two were on top of the cake, but Monica caught them making out outside!

Nice light spilling into the staircase at the Cloisters Castle. This was my take...

...here is Monica's!

Lindsay and Kirk

June 21st, 2008

Hollywood Glam comes to Annapolis

Lindsay and Kirk's vision of a contemporary, yet classic, wedding came to fruition with a totally unique look and feel. Their family and friends converged upon Annapolis from the Eastern Shore and New York in formal black-and-white attire. It was quite a dapper crowd, and I have never seen the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront look so elegant!

The bridesmaids' dresses were more high maintenance than the bride's!

RichmanBleemerblog003.jpg
We love when the B&G have a moment together before the wedding, with time to unwind before the ceremony and do all the group shots, it's  a great relief to everyone.

We integrated some classic Annapolis architecture into our family formals. This one's by the State House...

Meanwhile, back at the ranch with Jonathan Hanson, my second shooter, the guys were wondering....

Where's the groom?

Batten down the hatches...but the party rocked on under the tent through the storm.

Shannon and Dino

 May 31st, 2008

A Baltimore backyard wedding

MooreGavinblog001.jpg

MooreGavinblog002.jpg
Shannon and her sister, Darby, are very close, and they had so much fun getting Shannon dressed.

MooreGavinblog003.jpg
I stood outside in the rain to get some natural light for this portrait of Shannon. She was squatting in the doorway.

MooreGavinblog004.jpg
The flowers by Teresa Kastner of Floral Impressions were exquisite!

MooreGavinblog005.jpg
The limo drivers from An Xtreme LimoScene were so attentive; like bodyguards with big black umbrellas. This is a great shot by Kathy Blanchard, my assistant for the day!

MooreGavinblog007.jpg
Oops! Dino almost dropped the ring. Nice catch.

 MooreGavinblog008.jpg

The sun came out moments before the B&G exited the church at Loyola College Alumni Chapel. It was a miracle!

MooreGavinblog009a.jpg
I passed this horse pasture on my way to Shannon's house.  I was SO EXCITED to be able to stop for pictures later to capture the scene with blue skies. The horses were frisky and came running right up to us.

MooreGavin380.jpg
I love this shot by Kathy! It's very unusual to get a nice shot of the lineup before the intros. This one is gorgeous and really sets the scene.

The Boticelli painting "Primavera" from my Italian Renaissance days in Florence came to mind when I saw the girls chatting under the willow tree.

Lauren and Chad

May 31, 2008

An Eastern Shore bay-side wedding

What a wedding! The moment we arrrived at Swan Cove Manor in Easton, Md., it started to storm. Despite the crazy weather to begin the day, Monica and I enjoyed ourselves immensely through the end of the night. Working with Lauren and Chad and their families was a blast! The couple was so laid back and relaxed, even during the major downpour we endured minutes before the ceremony. Everyone pitched in to make things work and the wedding went off with out a hitch.

The groomsmen and kitchen staff had to hold down the tent - it almost blew away!

Lauren found her Manolo Blahnik shoes on eBay. With all the rain and mud she never did get to wear them!

Monica always has nice ring shots!

The weather turned gorgeous right before the ceremony ... and stayed that way all night.
